Sheesh!

Once again it feels like I haven't posted anything in a long time.  I've been meaning to post Luke's pictures from Lego camp but haven't made the time.  I've been meaning to post about Wildlife Detectives camp but also haven't made the time.  What's to post really, great time, hiking and doing all sorts of nature stuff.  He loved it.

We also had neighborhood happy hour here a couple of weeks ago.  A lot of work (I made it that way) but so much fun.  It's really fun to get together with neighbors.  There's so many neighbors around and you don't really see each other much unless you take the time.

This Tuesday is National Night Out and we are going this year.  Really, I swear we are.  We say it every year and never go.  We have to this year.  We've been better about venturing out (happy hour) and meeting people.  This is just one more step :)

This week is Lego Art Camp with 2 kids from his school last year.  It's only in the morning in Gig Harbor.  He is really excited.  Neither is going to his school this year.

We are still looking into our options.  He has an assessment coming up on the 19th to see if he qualifies for Seabury ("empowering gifted children").  We'll see.  We love what Gig Harbor Academy could be, not what it currently is.  There's a new head of school this year but she hasn't said anything so we don't know if any changes are coming this year.  With 10 acres of trails and wetlands we'd really like to see more done outdoors.  They are definitely better than all other schools at getting the kids outside even in the rain because they have such great tree cover.

What else has happened..... Luke and I found a little dog running scared in the street, picked it up, brought it home, got rid of the fleas, treated the ear infection, had it groomed and after a week finally found the owners.  They were not grateful, to say the least.  Regardless, we know we did the right thing by the dog and that is most important to us.

Yesterday we went to Proctor Artfest in the 90 degree heat and found the local bowling alley empty and air conditioned.  We played two games and had so much fun.  Luke was getting pretty good by the end.

Last Thursday we went to the King County Fair in Enumclaw.  Turns out opening day was the perfect day to go.  It's always a bit warmer up there and given the current temps glad we went when we did!!  Walked through the Haunted House in the rides area (was the only one Luke would do), went through all the craft buildings looking for the make your own doll booth which turned out not to be there this year :( , ate junk food, played games and won prizes, looked at all the animals and were back home by dinnertime.  It was a long but fun day.

We haven't made it up hiking again nor have we gone on a trail ride or camping, all on my summer to-do list but we leave for Whistler on Saturday and will hopefully cross two of those off on our week there.  Hoping Luke will gain more confidence swimming in the pool as well.  He can swim just doesn't have confidence in his skills yet so always wears either flippers (which messes up his kick) or his cheese block.

Phew!  Throw in gardening and canning and you can see why I haven't posted in awhile!
