Waiting

We are patiently (or in my case, not so patiently) waiting our couch to be delivered. It's scheduled for Monday. We haven't had living room furniture since we returned from Hawaii in mid-October. It wasn't a big deal when we had a bedroom because we would just climb into bed to watch tv, read or browse. But then we decided to move our bed back into Luke's room. Luke and I weren't sleeping as well separated, him partially due to a cold and I was spending too much time at night schlepping back and forth. He kicks off the covers and gets cold.

Earlier in the week he asked to make a fort and it turned into me tearing apart an old duvet cover and building a big tent over his bed. Me, being me, just steamrolled it into a semi-permanent structure that looks something like a covered wagon complete with zippered entrance. He thinks it's really cool and it helps keeps him warm at night so he's sleeping better too. Now he wants Dr. Suess curtains so that's my next project.

Luke and I visited the Tacoma Waldorf school yesterday and I think we are sold. www.tacomawaldorf.org We like 1/2 day for kindergarten and the smaller class sizes and the philosophy of the school. So many of the boys in our neighborhood have started public school in the past two years and all of them have struggled with the full days and amount of homework. There's plenty of time for full days of school with homework. He's only a kid for such a short time.
