5th times a charm

Luke went for a visit with our 5th dentist.  The first 4 didn't work out for one reason or another.  The dentist today was a dream.  Perfect fit.  All his staff were so wonderful with Luke and so patient with him.  They managed to get a really good set of xrays which showed lots of work to be done.  The (emergency) filling that he had done a couple of weeks ago needs to be redone :(  and the tooth will likely require a root canal and a cap.  Same tooth on the other side requires at least a filling and maybe a cap.  There are a few more cavities that need to be filled.  We all agree that it would be best done all at once under sedation (in an hour!) since his last visit was so traumatic.  Fingers crossed that the insurance says it's okay and we don't have to dole out a huge amount to Mary Bridge where they will perform the work.  Having it all done over 4 dental visits just doesn't seem like the way to go.  I believe if we get on top of it now we won't have to do it again for a long time.  So why so many cavities???  No flossing for one, we don't use flouride, and Luke had been taking juice in his lunch to school along with fruit chews or fruit leather.  Luke eats mostly seasonally so it's hard this time of year to find anything to pack in his lunch that isn't crackers.  Oh well, live and learn.  At least we finally found a dentist who understands us and is willing to work on our terms.
