Yesterday was a sad day in the Larson household. There was an article in the newspaper that said they were closing the Ruston car tunnel on Wednesday. We had a long (teary) talk about why, the development will need a wider road to handle more trafffic and there were many questions about the Asarco plant as well. Had to do some internet research to find out more about that! When Luke was younger on long rainy winter days we used to park on Ruston Way, wait for trains and then drive to the tunnels where there was a small gravel area we could pull out and park in. We would watch the trains go into the tunnel. Then we would drive up through Ruston often parking to watch the heavy equipment preparing land for homes in the new development. So when Randy got home last night we loaded up into the truck and drove through the tunnel one last, taking pictures the first pass through and video the next. I was so sad for him but he seemed to have accepted the change by then and wasn't sad. Amazing how sometimes they move through feelings so much faster than we as parents do.
